‘She says it as it is!’: Lizzie Cundy calls Nana Akua ‘a true British icon’ at London Fashion Week

Lizzie Cundy was spotted gushing over her co-star on the red carpet on Saturday, when she branded Nana Akua a “true British icon.”

The English socialite dazzled in a golden gown that she told GB News was inspired by an Oscar statue.

Speaking exclusively to The People’s Channel on the red carpet, she said: “Well I’ve been here many times and it really is full of icons.

“I love my profession and love trying to support really young designers coming in, the need all the support they can get these really tough times.”

When asked what makes a British icon, she said: “Well obviously they’ve got to have that British sense of humor and the beautiful British icon should have that fun factor.

“I think we forget that this country is full of fun. We have amazing arts and fashion.

“We’re known for such amazing things. And we’ve got to remember what is great about Britain. I think we’ve forgotten that.

“I work with a British icon every Saturday. Nana Akua. She is my icon.

“We do such a great show, she shoots from the hip she is feisty and she just says it as it is.”

The evening also saw Nana take to the stage to present Eamonn Holmes with his Lifetime Service Award.

Nana said that Eamonn’s career has been “truly iconic” as she shares a compilation video of his best moments.

Eamonn was stunned to receive the award and had no idea that it was coming his way.

Upon accepting the award, Eamonn said: “This is so embarrassing. I had no idea this was coming my way.

“It’s absolutely amazing. I am really in a state of shock. Thank you. It’s very humbling and gratifying.

The audience erupted into applause as Eamonn Holmes soaked up the moment with congratulations quickly pouring in across social media.

Shortly after the ceremony, Eamonn shared the news with his fans on Instagram, writing: “Well, what a surprise! Apparently, I’m an icon as voted by the fashion industry bowl me over.

“A tribute tape from my brothers, school friends and work colleagues made me very emotional. Thank you.”
