Jeremy Clarkson leaves fans in tears as he announces ‘sad’ Diddly Squat departure: ‘Made me cry my eyes out!’

Jeremy Clarkson has left fans distraught and admitted he was “sad” himself after bidding farewell to his dog Arya’s pups.

Back in July, Mr Clarkson and his partner Lisa Hogan’s fox-red Labrador, Arya, gave birth to 11 puppies in a rare moment of good news for the presenter-turned-farmer in what has been a tumultuous year on the farm.

Their joy was short-lived at the time as Mr Clarkson revealed one of the puppies died not long after arriving.

He broke the news in the same week that he revealed his Diddly Squat Farm in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, had been hit with bovine TB.

Now, two months on, it’s time for the surviving members of the litter to move on and enjoy their new homes with their new owners.

On Sunday afternoon, both Mr Clarkson and Ms Hogan took to social media to share a clip of them handing Arya’s pups over to their respective new owners.

Set to James Blunt’s tear-jerking hit Goodbye My Lover, the video featured clips of each of the new pups meeting their new owners, with Arya on hand to bid them farewell.

Arya could be nuzzling into each of her pups before they were waved off, but it was the final scene in the montage that appeared to hit fans hardest.

The compilation ended with Ms Hogan waving off the final people to collect their puppy, before cutting to a sad-looking Arya curled up on her bed.

Ms Hogan is seen giving Arya a stroke on her nose after watching each of the pooches go off to their new homes.

In the accompanying caption of the video, Mr Clarkson wrote: “So happy the puppies are going to wonderful families. But God, it’s sad to see them go.”

And Ms Hogan echoed the sentiment. “Goodbye, my puppies, goodbye, my friends, we have loved (you) so much,” she penned.

The heartbreaking nature of the update left fans feeling similarly emotional, and it didn’t take long for the comments of the post to be inundated with reactions.

One Instagram user penned: “Oh, that’s broken my heart and I never met them… They are so bl**dy beautiful animals,” followed by crying emojis.

“She almost looks like she’s crying. My god,” a second said about Arya, while a third echoed: “Omg the worse my day ever… be happy babies x.”

“So sad, I’m sure they are all going to lovely homes xx,” a fourth weighed in before a fifth added: “Omg this made me cry.” (sic)

And the tears kept coming from a sixth who typed: “This has made me cry my eyes out,” followed by more crying emojis.

However, there is some consolation to be taken as it appears Diddly Squat will remain the home for one of Arya’s pooches.

Earlier this month, Mr Clarkson posed with one of the puppies named Margarey in an Instagram post introducing her to the world.

Ms Hogan appears to have confirmed Margarey is staying put in the Cotswolds, as when one fan replied to say they were looking forward to seeing more of her, the Clarkson’s Farm star replied: “She’s a ticket.”

And in another comment, Ms Hogan explained why she wanted Arya to see all of her litter depart.

“I wanted her to see them all go, and it helped. She’s in good form,” Ms Hogan assured fans.
