X Factor’s Andy Abraham shares plans for new music as single released 20 years after ITV show stint

X Factor star Andy Abraham has revealed he’s back with a new single, 20 years after finding fame on the ITV show.

Former dustman Abraham, 61, appeared on GB News on Friday, July 18, where he emphasised he was “far from done with music”.

The singer hopes to head back into the charts with Everything That You Do, which was released on Friday.

The track is a collaboration with Benjamin Race, one of Britain’s rising soul artists, and the multi-platinum writer Ricky Hanley.

Delving into the background story to the song, Abraham told The People’s Channel: “I got involved through Ricky Hanley who introduced me to Benjamin Race.

“Benjamin was in the process of doing his album, and the song was so good that he decided he wanted to release it as a single and for it to be the leading song for his album.”

He continued: “I’ve been away for well over ten years. I’ve been performing, obviously.

“I’ve been doing shows and stuff. But to be putting out music again, it’s very exciting. Hopefully, it will translate into wonderful sales, fantastic sales and more shows in the future.”

Platinum-selling artist Abraham also talked about how he hopes the next step will be the release of a new album.

Reflecting on the past two decades, he continued: “I haven’t really changed that much.

“I’m still the same bald guy who burst on the scene. I’ve still got the same features, but the industry has changed so much since that time.

“To a degree, it feels like a different world, but it’s a world that I’m very, very much looking forward to entering and looking forward to bringing out new music.

“That’s the next step. It will be an album and I hope to bring out another single.

“I just want to be involved in music that I love, and hopefully my audience and my fans will enjoy it too.

“Those are really my hopes and dreams, another great single and a tour.”

Meanwhile, Abraham also went on to pay tribute to former X Factor judges Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne for their advice on getting into in the music industry.

He said: “Simon’s influence comes from, obviously, the X Factor, and his advice during that time was just to enjoy it, you know, try not to take it too seriously, the comments and whatnot.

“But the biggest influence I would probably say was Sharon Osborne. She was my champion.”

He hinted that more music may be on the way, adding: “I’m looking to release another album. We’ll see where it goes.”

However, Abraham admitted the landscape has changed dramatically since his X Factor days.

“There isn’t really a focal point anymore like Top of the Pops,” he said. “Now there are so many social media outlets, and it feels like there’s a lot more work to be done.”

It’s evident his passion remains though, with the singer concluding: “I just love writing songs and teaming up with fantastic producers like Benjamin. Hopefully it does really, really well – but either way, I’m going to enjoy it.”

Everything That You Do is out on July 18.
