Singer Jessie J has shared an emotional update from her hospital bed following breast cancer surgery, posting what she described as “some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours” on Instagram on Monday evening.
The 37-year-old pop star documented her surgical journey with a series of photographs and videos, including images showing her bandaged chest and surgical drain. She warned followers about blood content in the posts.
“I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through,” the Price Tag hitmaker wrote alongside the images, which featured moments with her partner Chanan Safir Colman and their two-year-old son Sky during hospital visits.
The singer confirmed she is now recovering at home whilst awaiting results from the procedure.
In her Instagram post, Jessie expressed gratitude to her medical team, writing: “Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit.”
The update included touching moments of support from her loved ones, with images showing her partner Chanan kissing her before she was wheeled into surgery. Her young son Sky was also able to visit during her hospital stay.
“I am home now, to rest and wait for my results,” she told followers, adding a lighthearted note: “Chanan is in a nurse outfit. No no, he isn’t, but funny to imagine.”
The singer concluded her message with words of solidarity: “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”
Jessie revealed her breast cancer diagnosis earlier this month in a video message to fans, explaining she had discovered it before her latest song No Secrets was released this year.
“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’,” she told followers in the announcement.
The singer performed at Capital’s Summertime Ball at Wembley Stadium just over a week ago, where she became emotional whilst addressing the 80,000-strong crowd.
“Today, this show is my last show before I go to beat breast cancer!” she declared from the stage, thanking the audience for their support.
She expressed gratitude for her life, career, son, partner and family, adding: “We are so lucky, we have so much to live for.”
Messages of support poured in from fellow celebrities following Jessie’s hospital update.
Craig David commented: “Sending so much love. Rest up,” whilst Rochelle Humes wrote: “SO proud of you! You’re made of strong stuff my girl.”
Michelle Keegan, Giovanna Fletcher and Gaby Roslin were among others offering encouragement to the singer.
Earlier this month, Jessie had revealed she experienced her “worst day so far” since the diagnosis, suffering panic attacks and overwhelming emotions.
“Panic attacks/ tears. big fears/ anger/ overwhelm bad,” she wrote on Instagram Stories, sharing that eating corn on the cob helped shift her mood.
