ITV’s celebrity edition of Deal or No Deal has sparked fierce criticism from viewers after comedian Alex Brooker received what many considered insultingly low offers whilst playing for charity.
The 41-year-old appeared on the programme to raise money for Unicef ahead of his participation in Soccer Aid next weekend.
Brooker was supported by close friends and family members during the show, which aired on Saturday evening.
Celebrity guests including former England footballer Jill Scott, actor Emmett J Scanlan, property expert Scarlette Douglas and Gladiators star Livi Sheldon, known as Diamond, also joined him in the studio alongside presenter Stephen Mulhern.
The controversy began when Brooker received his first offer from the banker after eliminating three blue boxes and two red ones.
The banker’s initial offer stood at just £1,414, a figure that immediately drew criticism from viewers.
The situation failed to improve during the second round of negotiations.
Despite continuing gameplay, Brooker was presented with an offer of merely £2,460, prompting an immediate backlash on social media platforms.

Viewers expressed outrage that such modest sums were being offered when the money would go directly to Unicef.
Many felt the offers were particularly inappropriate given the charitable nature of the celebrity special.
Social media users did not hold back in their criticism of the programme.
“ITV are the stingiest b**s. 8 Grand is a sh*te offer for Charity as well,” one viewer wrote angrily.
Another agreed: “What a poor money for charity on #DealOrNoDeal tonight don’t you think @StephenMulhern.”
“Even for charity these offers have been utter crap!,” a third viewer echoed, whilst someone else directed their fury at the banker: “£2,460?! F**k off Banker, it’s for charity you tight-a***! #DealOrNoDeal.”
One viewer described the offers as “appalling” whilst another expressed disappointment, writing: “Only £1,414? Come on Mr. Banker.”
The backlash occurred during Saturday evening’s celebrity special, which featured Brooker attempting to secure funds for Unicef before his upcoming Soccer Aid appearance.
The format saw Brooker supported by celebrity guests and family members as he faced the banker’s decisions.
