Donald Trump calls for probes into Kamala Harris’ support from Bruce Springsteen, Beyoncé and Bono

US President Donald Trump has called for a “major investigation” into several celebrities who appeared at Kamala Harris’ campaign events after he claimed they were illegally compensated for their support.

The President made the claims on Truth Social at 2am on Monday – without offering any evidence.

On Sunday, the former president called for an investigation into what he claims were unlawful campaign practices involving Springsteen, Beyoncé, and other celebrities.

Trump doubled down on his accusations Monday morning, renewing his call.

He wrote: “According to news reports, Beyoncé was paid $11,000,000 to walk onto a stage, quickly ENDORSE KAMALA, and walk off to loud booing for never having performed, NOT EVEN ONE SONG!”

Trump exclaimed: “Remember, the Democrats and Kamala illegally paid her millions of Dollars for doing nothing other than giving Kamala a full throated ENDORSEMENT. “

“HIS IS AN ILLEGAL ELECTION SCAM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL! IT IS AN ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION! BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, OPRAH, BONO AND, PERHAPS, MANY OTHERS, HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING TO DO!!!”

It follows his post late Sunday night: “HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO???”

He continued: “I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates aren’t allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment. In addition, this was a very expensive and desperate effort to artificially build up her sparse crowds. IT’S NOT LEGAL! For these unpatriotic ‘entertainers,’ this was just a CORRUPT & UNLAWFUL way to capitalise on a broken system. Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!”

Harris had used Beyoncé’s song “Freedom” as her walk-on anthem at several rallies before the pop icon made a brief appearance at an October 25 campaign event in Houston.

Though she did not perform, online speculation swirled that the Harris campaign paid her $10 million – claims Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, promptly denied.

Federal Election Commission filings show that Harris’ campaign paid Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions two $500,000 instalments, reportedly to cover production costs for a town hall Oprah hosted in support of Harris.

Similarly, Beyoncé’s Parkwood Production Media LLC received $165,000, also listed as a production expense – not a personal payment to the singer.

The celebrity feud comes after Springsteen, speaking at an event in Manchester, England last week, denounced the Trump administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.”

“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,” Springsteen told the crowd.

In response, Trump lashed out, posting: “Never liked him, never liked his music or his Radical Left Politics.”

Springsteen had endorsed Harris in early October of the previous year.

He asserted during his endorsement speech that Trump’s candidacy should have been disqualified because of his “disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power.”
