Lorraine Kelly, 65, issues health update after being hospitalised for surgery ordeal: ‘Following doctors’ orders’

Lorraine Kelly has returned home from hospital after undergoing preventative keyhole surgery to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

The 65-year-old ITV presenter shared a health update with fans on social media on Sunday, confirming she is now recovering at home.

Kelly had revealed on Saturday that she was having a “wee procedure” after “not feeling all that well for a little while”.

Speaking from her hospital bed at the time, she explained: “I’ve had some scans and tests, and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out. It’s purely preventative.”

The surgery, known as a laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy, involves three or four small incisions to the abdomen.

Most patients are able to return home the same day and are recommended to stay off work for two to four weeks.

The TV host took to Instagram to share a photo of herself surrounded by NHS staff at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot, expressing her gratitude for their care.

“Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at Heatherwood Hospital – back home now and following doctors’ orders to rest up,” Kelly wrote.
