A Place in the Sun presenter reveals two-stone weight loss transformation after worrying health diagnosis

A Place in the Sun star Craig Rowe, 51, has shared how shedding some weight has transformed his appearance after being spooked by a health scare.

The property expert turned his life around after seeing himself onscreen looking “pudgy” and receiving a shock diagnosis.

The presenter has managed to shed an impressive two stone since Christmas after changing his habits, and new snaps show him sporting a trimmer body.

The Channel 4 star was informed he had pre-diabetes and that he needed to overhaul his sugar intake or risk a type 2 diabetes diagnosis.

He explained the news had come as a “warning sign,” and decided to make some changes.

Speaking to The Sun, he stated: “Well, I was diagnosed about six years ago with having pre-diabetes.

“That is the stage where your blood sugar level is high, but you haven’t yet become type 2 diabetic.

“I look at it as a warning period of time. So I knew back when I got that diagnosis that if I didn’t change things, I was going to be heading towards type 2 diabetes.

“Obviously, if you’ve not been medicated for it, it can be quite a serious disease and certainly not something you want to have if you can avoid it.”

Thankfully, Rowe’s health kick meant he was able to bring his blood sugar down and reverse the pre-diabetes.

However, he explained he then became a bit complacent and almost reached the scary condition again.

“I was right on the cusp of being almost pre-diabetic again and I knew I sort of got a bit pudgy just before Christmas,” he told the publication.

“I’d seen some of my episodes of A Place in the Sun go out and I was like, ‘That’s not a good angle.’

“You know when your clothes are fitting you differently and I knew I’d put on a bit of weight.”

He detailed how his new lifestyle saw him cutting out cakes and chocolate as well as booze.

“I’ve always struggled with my weight fluctuating. I’ve got a really sweet tooth,” he admitted.

Adding that he enjoyed “a few drinks” and wasn’t active enough before, he shared that he is now exercising five to six times a week to maintain his progress.

He went on to comment: “At 52, it is amazing to say I’m in the best shape of my life.

“I’m wearing the same size trousers as what I wore when I was 30.”
