Eamonn Holmes flooded with support as he shares heartfelt update amid screen break: ‘Was great having you’

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has received a flood of supportive comments after taking a short break to his hometown of Belfast.

The 65-year-old took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a snap of himself in Northern Ireland’s capital, sporting a light jacket and windswept hair.

He penned next to the photo: “Thank you Hometown. It was great having you. #Belfast.”

Fans flooded the comments beneath with complimentary remarks about how well he is looking and how much they are missing him from his GB News Breakfast show.

One wrote: “My granddaughter’s partner is from Belfast, they have been together 9 years. He’s a wonderful guy, all the family loves him. You’re looking very well, looking forward to having you back on GB, it’s not the same without you.”

“You look so relaxed being back in your hometown,” a second noted.

“Welcome home,” someone else added, while a fourth shared: “Looking well sir.”

“Great to see you looking so well. Even though you probably don’t feel it,” another commented.

Another People’s Channel viewer wrote: “Hey Eammon, missed you on GB News this week. It’s not the same without you and you’re funny little stories.”

“Eamonn, your [heart emoji] is where the home is… beautiful country,” another added. (sic)

While fans enthused over Eamonn looking so well, the presenter has been candid in recent years about his several health struggles.

In May, Eamonn shared a health update on social media, posting a throwback photograph from three years ago that left him feeling deeply saddened.

The snap showed the popular broadcaster sporting a suit and black trench coat as he stood in what appeared to be a car park in front of a DMC-12 sports car, with a TV camera crew visible in the background.

Eamonn wrote next to the image: “Great picture popped up from 3 years but it’s made me sad – I could walk.”

He concluded the poignant post with a sad-faced emoji and added: “Got to redouble my efforts.”

Eamonn later confirmed to worried fan that he mainly relied on a wheelchair to get around these days.

While the incident wasn’t in view of the cameras, a crash could be heard off-screen as the camera focused on guest commentator Charlie Rowley.

Eamonn’s co-host, Ellie Costello, was heard exclaiming “Oh my gosh” as Eamonn urged Charlie to “carry on” before the programme cut to an extended six-minute break.

Upon returning, Eamonn’s humour shone through as he joked: “Welcome back. Good to see you again. Especially good for me to see you again. I am still alive, yes.”
