Neighbour row erupts after Calvin Harris claims his chicken was murdered by homeowner’s ‘grimy dogs’

Global DJ Calvin Harris has revealed that his pet cockerel has died after being attacked by dogs belonging to a neighbour at his Ibiza property.

The 41-year-old musician took to social media to announce the death of Smokey, expressing deep sadness over the loss.

“RIP Smokey we love you,” the DJ wrote, describing how he had “raised this lad from a chick to a majestic cockerel.”

He stated the bird had been “murdered” by what he called his neighbour’s “grimy dogs.”

The Scottish artist signed off his message by saying he was “absolutely gutted” by the incident.

The cockerel had featured prominently in the DJ’s social media presence in recent months.

In May, Harris shared a photograph of himself with Smokey to promote his latest single, “Blessings.”

The timing of Smokey’s death comes just weeks after Harris celebrated becoming a father for the first time. On July 20, his wife Vick Hope gave birth to their son Micah.

Harris announced the arrival on Instagram, calling his wife “a superhero” and expressing being “in complete awe of her primal wisdom.”

The couple shared several photographs from the birth, including images of Hope in a birthing pool and Harris cradling their newborn son.

Hope, who joined BBC’s Countryfile as a presenter earlier this year, had revealed her pregnancy during one of Harris’s performances in Ibiza.

The pair began their relationship in January 2022 and married in 2023 in a ceremony attended by numerous celebrities.

Well-wishers including television presenter Laura Whitmore and singer Pixie Lott congratulated the couple on their new arrival.

In an unconventional touch, the couple arranged for Hope’s placenta to be processed into capsules, with Harris sharing an image of the preparation.

The couple have generally maintained privacy around their relationship, though they occasionally offer insights into their life together.

Their home is Terra Masia, an expansive 138-acre organic farm where the couple have established a self-sufficient lifestyle.

The property yields various produce including fruits, vegetables, eggs and wine.

The estate represents a significant shift for Harris, who is not only an international EDM performer but also a landowner focused on agricultural pursuits.

The farm houses various animals, with Smokey having been among the livestock kept on the property.
