Dick Strawbridge leaves radio host ‘close to tears’ with surprise gesture: ‘Can’t believe it!’

Dick Strawbridge left a fan and popular Australian radio host emotional when he and Angel Adoree surprised him with an unexpected visit.

The husband and wife duo, famed for their Channel 4 series Escape to the Chateau, have built a following from around the world with their unique shows, podcasts and social media updates.

Recently, they were filmed arriving at Australia’s biggest radio show, The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Fronted by hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O, the breakfast show shared the sweet moment the Strawbridges turned up at the studio.

The show’s official Instagram penned: “We surprised Kyle with his DREAM GUEST! The look of joy on his face! #KJSHOW.”

The clip showed Jackie telling her co-host: “Surprise, surprise. I did promise you I’d be bringing in two people that would make you excited…”

“I don’t get excited, you know me, I don’t get starstruck,” Kyle responded before adding promptly: “You seem very sure of yourself.”

“I am, you will love the two people I’m bringing in,” Jackie teased, adding: “To give you an idea of who it is I’m bringing in I want you to listen to this…” before playing an excerpt from Escape to the Chateau.

“Oh no!” Kyle exclaimed, his demeanor instantly shifting. Jackie asked the two guests to “come in” before Dick and Angel appeared.

“Oh my goodness!” Kyle shouted. “I can’t believe it, I’m so sorry – I’m flabbergasted!”

“I knew you would be!” Jackie beamed as Kyle stated: “I can’t believe that you’re standing right here – you’re real people!”

The starstruck radio host went on to admit: “I feel like I’m gonna cry,” before hugging the pair.

“Kyle has met a million celebrities but never have I seen him react like this,” Jackie confessed.

“Sorry but I love your TV show, I’m getting a bit passionate,” he enthused, concluding: “This is the best day ever.”

The Strawbridge couple were among those to comment on the social media post, writing underneath the clip: “What fun that was!!”

The duo first appeared on screens in the docuseries Escape to the Chateau in 2016, which saw the couple and their two children up sticks and move to France, where they purchased a chateau.

They converted the disused building into a thriving business and a home, with the Channel 4 show chronicling their journey until the series ended in 2022.

The family remain popular with fans, with loyal social media followers keen to stay on track of their adventures.
