President Donald Trump has taken aim at Jaguar Land Rover and its outgoing CEO in a bizarre social media attack, while defending actress Sydney Sweeney.
Posting on social media site Truth Social, the US President launched an extraordinary tirade against Jaguar Land Rover and its “woke” rebrand.
It came as the Republican defended actress Sydney Sweeney amid controversy over an American Eagle advert, which sparked debate over terminology after some claimed it used phrases associated with eugenics.
Sweeney, who registered as a Republican in the state of Florida shortly before the 2024 Presidential election, has come under fire for a recent advertisement about jeans.

In the advert, the actress is shown modelling a full denim outfit with the tagline “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans” – a pun on “genes”.
The 27-year-old actress, who is known for roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Euphoria, can be seen speaking about genes being passed down from parents to offspring, while noting: “My jeans are blue.”
However, President Donald Trump has come to her defence, saying that she had the “HOTTEST” advert for American Eagle, before noting that they were “flying off the shelves”.
He continued the Truth Social post by attacking Jaguar Land Rover, which “did a stupid, and serious WOKE advertisement, THAT IS A TOTAL DISASTER”.

The 47th President claimed that the CEO “resigned” in “disgrace”, adding that the company “is in absolute turmoil”.
Adrian Mardell, who has been CEO of Jaguar Land Rover since November 2022, announced last week that he would be stepping down with plans to retire.
A spokesperson for Jaguar Land Rover said: “Adrian Mardell has expressed his desire to retire from JLR after three years as CEO and 35 years with the company.”
Despite Trump’s attacks on the CEO, Mardell has overseen a major transformation of the iconic British brand, including taking it from heavy losses after the pandemic to posting impressive sales totals in recent years.

His largest contribution to the brand was arguably the overhaul of the Jaguar brand last November, which split opinions across the world.
The new brand direction saw Jaguar embrace a new “Copy Nothing” moniker with bold colours and artistic adverts to accelerate the brand towards its electric-only future.
The move was described by some as brave and revolutionary for bringing Jaguar back into the public consciousness, while others, including Trump, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, called it “woke” and warned that its future could be in jeopardy.
In the most recent post, Trump questioned: “Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad. Shouldn’t they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company.”
Jaguar Land Rover noted that it would be announcing a successor to Adrian Mardell “in due course”.
The brand is expected to begin production of the new Jaguar Type 00 electric vehicle in August 2026, following production delays which have also impacted plans for the Range Rover Electric.
Trump’s Truth Social rant concluded: “Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!).
“She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be.”
