Sharon Osbourne has broken her social media silence after her husband, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, passed away at the age of 76.
The 72-year-old former X-Factor judge took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt tribute to her Black Sabbath singer husband, who died at their Buckinghamshire home.
The Osbourne’s initially released a joint statement yesterday evening, saying: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
“We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The TV personality responded to an online tribute to her late husband shared by musician Gavin Rossdale.
The Bush singer posted a snap of himself and Ozzy on Instagram, alongside the caption: “RIP OZZY – a great man – a true legend – I met Ozzy through Jack just a few times, but he was so warm and kind and funny and I love that memory.
“Sending much love to his family at this difficult time. Rest in power.”
Sharon broke her silence, writing “bless you” underneath the post, acknowledging the heartfelt words to her husband.
MailOnline reported the emergency services and the air ambulance were called to the Black Sabbath singer’s house in Buckinghamshire at 10.30 am on Tuesday.
It is believed that calls to emergency services led call handlers to believe that the singer’s life was in the balance.
A chopper was dispatched from Thames Valley ambulance base at RAF Benson in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.
The crew were airborne for around 15 minutes before landing in the grounds of the Buckinghamshire mansion and were then were inside the property for two hours, trying but failing to save his life, reports have claimed.
The rock legend sold over 100 million records during his 40-year career, and is one of the most famous heavy metal stars in the world.
Osbourne was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame and the US Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame twice, once for Black Sabbath, and once as a solo artist.
He also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as five Grammy wins from 12 nominations.
Coldplay also paid tribute to the rock legend during their concert last night in Nashville, Tennessee.
Frontrunner Chris Martin told the audience: “We’d like to dedicate this whole show to the incredible genius, talent, and characterful [sic] gift to the world who was Ozzy Osbourne.
“We send our love to his family. OK Ozzy, we love you, wherever you’re going. Thank you for everything.”
Afterwards the band covered one of Osbournes best and most iconic songs, Changes.
