Sir Rod Stewart has opened up about the significant “change” in his wife Penny Lancaster, admitting “we’ve all noticed”.
The Maggie May hitmaker made the admission while discussing his wife’s career as a special constable for the City of London Police.
Former model Lancaster, 54, began her volunteering work in 2022 after initially becoming interested in 2019 after filming a Channel 4 show called Famous and Fighting Crime.
Rocker Stewart, 80, has claimed the work has “changed” Lancaster, explaining: “I have noticed she’s got more bossy”.
He continued: “The kids have noticed, we’ve all noticed. She seems to think she knows everything now.”
Lancaster herself also spoke to the same publication last year about the role and how her family took the news she’d be joining the police.
“When I first told them the idea of joining, they thought I was absolutely mad,” she confessed, going on to state her sons didn’t find it “cool”.
“However, it seems they’ve had a change of heart, with the Loose Women panelist adding: “But now they’re so proud, it’s a complete turnaround.”
Despite Stewart’s playful jibes, he went on to express his adoration for his wife.
The musician revealed to the publication that he first met Lancaster at a bar in 1999, with his bass player deliberately delaying their connection.
“There were six months between Rachel [Hunter, Stewart’s previous wife] and Penny because my bass player, who had Penny’s number, wouldn’t give it to me,” Stewart explained.
“He said, ‘All you’re going to do now is s**g around.’ And he was right: I had a splendid time in those six months.”
When they finally met, Lancaster approached him for an autograph. “So I said, ‘Do you like dancing?’
“She was an incredible dancer, gorgeous, 6ft 4in heels, ai-yi-yi,” Stewart recalled.
Despite being immediately smitten with Lancaster, Stewart admitted he was counselled to enjoy single life briefly following his separation from Hunter.
However, they soon got together and the pair married in 2007 in Portofino, Italy, following his proposal in Paris.
The couple have two sons together, Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14.
“Now I’m with Penny and she’s got everything I could possibly want,” Stewart added. He credits Lancaster with having “mended my heart in more ways than one.”

Last week, Stewart proved he still has it in him to perform in spite of his decades-long career as he took to the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury after a 23-year hiatus from the festival.
After his first song, he yelled to the crowd: “Hey, I’m here! Music brings us together, we need music.”
