Great British Bake Off winner Matty Edgell has shared a sweet post to announce he and his wife Laura are expecting their first baby.
The 29-year-old, who won the 2023 series of the Channel 4 favourite, posted a sweet snap on his Instagram on Monday.
The baker shared a photograph of a onesie next to an ultrasound scan and a cuddly elephant toy attached to a small blanket that read “Little WFU [West Ham United] Fan”.
He wrote alongside the picture: “We can’t wait to meet you” next to a heart emoji.
In response, hundreds of fans, friends and Bake Off co-stars rushed to the comment section to congratulate the pair.
Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond penned: “Congratulations, how exciting.”
Fellow series 14 baker Rowan Claughton shared: “Ah you guys!! I’m so so pleased for you both. You’re gunna be the coolest parents ever.”
One fan quipped: “Gutted you didn’t say ‘bun in the oven’. Congrats again both of you, you’ll be class parents! X.”
Another of Edgell’s Bake Off co-stars, Nicky Laceby, wrote: “Oh my goodness, big big congratulations to you both. This is such wonderful happy news xxx.”
Another of his Channel 4 relaity show competitors, Cristy Sharp, added: “Oh Matty, Lara!!!! I’m so happy for you guys!! Amazing news!”
Dana Conway, who also starred alongside Edgell, shared: “Omg stopppppppp!!!! My heart. Congratulations darlings xx.” (sic)
The expecting couple got married last May, with the baker joking on Instagram at the time: “Signed, sealed and delivered, she can’t turn back now!”
He continued: “We had the best time celebrating our special day with the people we love the most.
“Thank you so much to everyone who came, you made our day what it was,” before signing off sweetly: “Ps. How stunning does my wife look?!”
Edgell isn’t the only former Bake Off star to have announced pregnancy news this year.
In April, Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington shared that she is expecting her first child with husband Matt after a nine-year struggle with infertility.
The 36-year-old baker shared the joyful news on social media on three months ago, revealing they are expecting their “IVF miracle” baby in October.
Adlington told followers she had previously been advised to lose 14 stone before she could get pregnant.

The couple decided to “quietly give IVF a try” about a year and a half ago, keeping their fertility journey private until now.
The baker described feeling “excited” but admitted she was “still a bit in shock” about the pregnancy.
