Snoop Dogg opens up on bizarre dream to flip burgers for football fans outside Celtic stadium

Snoop Dogg has opened up about his dream of flipping burgers outside a Scottish football stadium more than 30 years after his first album hit the shelves.

The platinum-selling rapper from Long Beach, California, has opened up about his plans to station a burger van outside Celtic Park in Glasgow, and he’s even planning to serve football fans himself.

This isn’t the first time the ‘Doggfather’ has spoken out about his love for the Scottish Premier club: the rapper has previously spoken about his desire to invest in the club, likening the proposed financial support to that of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny funding the meteoric rise of Wrexham.

Though he may be more experienced on the stage than in a kitchen, Snoop Dogg has published a number of cookbooks, including ‘From crook to cook’ and ‘Treats to Eat’.

The 53-year-old – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jnr – has appeared on cooking shows alongside kitchen legend Martha Stewart and says he’s always swapping cooking tips with TV chef Gordon Ramsay.

Though culinary interests might be a newly emerging interest for the rapper with 37 million album sales under his belt, his love of sports has been a common fixture of his public life: he was hired as an NBC correspondent during the Paris Olympics in 2024; he’s launched two youth football leagues; and he’s been an advocate for equal pay between male and female athletes.

Across the Atlantic, he has never shied away from his love for the East End Glasgow club, calling Celtic fans “special” and the best fans in European football, claiming he identifies strongly with the club’s mascot, Hoopy the Huddle Hound.

Above all else, his love for the colour green needs no further explanation.

He told the Mail on Sunday that fans would make his burger van outside the club’s stadium in Parkhead into a foodie “Paradise” – fans’ nickname for Celtic Park.

He said: “I would love to bring a pop-up burger (van) to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good.

“It’s got to be Celtic Park, man. The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation.

“The ground beef has got to be mixed with some secret spices, then add a good quality cheese and some maple-cured bacon.

“The Celtic fans are gonna love it, and to make sure they are just right, Snoop is going to be serving them himself.”

Despite his burning ambitions to bring his burger van to Celtic Park, he wasted no time dashing hopes of launching a similar venture outside rivals Rangers’ stadium in Ibrox.

“Am I going to bring my burgers to Rangers as well?” he pondered, “Nah, I think we will give that a miss.”

If Snoop Dogg does realise his dream of serving Celtic fans outside their stadium on a match day, customers may need to think fast to catch their food, what with being served by a celebrity who gained international acclaim for his ability to ‘drop it like it’s hot’.
