Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher reveals he joined brother Noel for ‘filthy’ rehearsals after 16 years

Liam Gallagher joined his Oasis band members for rehearsals today, which marked his first performance with brother Noel in 16 years.

The frontman reunited with the band at an undisclosed location for a full set run-through and penned an overly excited tweet on his personal account.

This was the first time the Gallagher brothers had played together since their August 2009 performance at V Festival in Staffordshire, before their longstanding feud began.

Taking to X, Liam expressed his enthusiasm when responding to fans’ questions about the upcoming rehearsals and noted: “Yes Rasta D I’m in Tuesday to blow their minds.”

Today, he penned an update for his followers, which read: “We have LIFT OFF Rastas sounded f***ing FILTHY I’ll tell thee that there for hardly anything LG.”

Fans were thrilled to be given the update as one asked: “Were you nervous?” before Liam responded: “Don’t be ridiculous.”

His approach to rehearsals follows an extensive solo tour last year celebrating Definitely Maybe, with a source telling the Mirror that Liam’s voice needs rest after his demanding solo performances.

“Liam is a singer and he has a long list of dates ahead of him with Oasis this year, so he will not be overdoing rehearsals,” the source explained, highlighting the practical considerations behind his limited rehearsal schedule.

The Oasis split occurred shortly after their V Festival performance in 2009, following what has been described as a massive row between the brothers ahead of their scheduled appearance at Rock en Seine in Paris.

Noel’s eldest daughter, Anais Gallagher, was claimed to be instrumental in helping her famous father and his brother Liam get talking again.

The 25-year-old figured the breakdown of her dad’s marriage could be an opportunity for her dad to focus on getting Oasis back together, and also to reconcile with his younger sibling.

An insider said: “Anais was one of the biggest sources of comfort and support for Noel following his divorce. She was the one who was helping him get back on his feet and return to doing things he loved that had fallen by the wayside.

“Over the years, Noel had offered an olive branch to Liam, but he’d never taken it up. Anais could tell her dad really wanted both his brothers, Liam and Paul, by his side after the split, so was determined to get them back in touch.

“She gets on great with Liam’s sons Gene and Lennon so she asked them if their dad would be willing to hear her out.

“They said they thought he would be receptive, so she then asked Liam to reach out to his brother to lend support. Once Liam called Noel, the rest was left up to them.”
