Nana Akua fumes it’s ‘terrible journalism’ as GB News star slams Susanna Reid’s Jenrick grilling

GB News presenter Nana Akua has slammed Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid following her confrontational interview with Robert Jenrick about his fare-dodging video on the London Underground.

Writing on X alongside a clip from the interview, Nana penned: “Terrible journalism. What exactly is she getting at?? She’s completely missed the point.. It’s about fare dodging. No wonder people are switching off.”

Nana’s comments came after Reid’s heated exchange with the Shadow Justice Secretary on Monday’s programme, where she challenged Jenrick over his failure to report a knife-carrying claim to police.

The controversy stems from a video filmed by Jenrick at Stratford station last week, where the Shadow Justice Secretary confronted alleged fare dodgers on the London Underground.

In the footage, Jenrick approached several people whom he accused of breaking the law by not paying their fares.

During one particularly tense encounter captured on film, a man on an escalator claimed he was carrying a knife, appearing to use this as a deterrent to stop Jenrick from questioning him further.

The video, which showed Jenrick walking around tube stations and confronting commuters, quickly went viral and sparked widespread debate.

The incident involving the knife claim became a focal point of criticism, particularly after it emerged that Jenrick had not reported the matter to police despite being told directly that someone was potentially carrying a blade on public transport.

During Monday’s Good Morning Britain interview, Reid launched into a fierce interrogation of Jenrick about his failure to alert authorities after being told someone was carrying a knife.

“Somebody told you that they were carrying a knife on the London Underground and you didn’t report it to the police,” Reid said, expressing her outrage at his inaction.

She escalated her concern, adding: “I travel on the tube, my kids travel on the tube, and someone has just told you, a former shadow minister, someone who is concerned about policing and obeying the law, you’re worried about fare-dodging, I’m worried about people carrying knives, and you didn’t report it to the police?”

Jenrick defended his decision not to contact authorities, insisting: “It’s not about me.”

Reid wasn’t having any of it, sharply criticising him: “I don’t want to be disrespectful to you, you made it all about you.”

She concluded with a pointed remark: “The video was literally all about you — it’s you walking around tube stations, confronting people. So to say that you didn’t report what was said to you because you’re saying you didn’t want to make it all about you is disingenuous.”

Fellow GB News star Patrick Christys also ripped into Reid, writing on his X account: “Does Susanna Reid ever get the tube? I believe she is driven to and from work every day.

“I wonder if she ever comes into contact with the kind of rampant lawlessness that the rest of us do?”
