EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt, 56, takes drastic measure with failed booze brand amid mounting debts and ‘toxic’ divorce

EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has pulled the plug on the failed gin business he launched with his ex-wife Beverley in 2017.

The 56-year-old actor set up Neat Distillery Ltd in August 2017, introducing a range of trendy gins.

Official documents have now been submitted to Companies House confirming that Adam and his former partner, Beverley, are applying to have the company struck off the register.

The business venture, which the couple had joint control over even during what was described as a “toxic split”, has been dormant for several years.

Production of the gin stopped just a couple of years after launch, with the brand’s website taken offline in a bid to cut costs.

Neat Distillery Ltd’s last set of accounts revealed it was running a £13,000 deficit.

The company’s financial struggles became apparent as the business failed to maintain operations beyond its initial years.

Despite Adam’s initial passion for the project, having spent months perfecting the gin recipe, the venture ultimately proved unsustainable.

The brand’s digital presence has long been dormant, with the website www.neatgin.com no longer active.

Its Facebook and Twitter accounts haven’t been updated since 2019, marking the effective end of the company’s public-facing operations.

The decision to take the website offline was part of broader cost-cutting measures as the business struggled financially.

Adam had previously outlined ambitious distribution plans, telling an interviewer: “I had quite a diverse list of outlets and distribution.”

“From entertainment, bars, fine dining to music clubs,” naming chef Tom Kerridge and London’s Hippodrome among them.

However, these plans failed to materialise into sustainable business success.

Adam and Beverley eventually reached an amicable divorce agreement in 2022 after 22 years of marriage, following initial reports that he had refused to offer her a fair settlement.

Shortly after their 2020 split, Adam invested £245,763 into a new firm called Caledfwlch, which is Welsh for King Arthur’s sword Excalibur, ahead of his I’m A Celebrity stint in Gwrych Castle, North Wales.

The actor took a break from EastEnders in 2020 but returned in August 2023.

He reportedly earned roughly £500,000 for his 2021 I’m A Celebrity appearance and receives a reported £250,000 per year for his EastEnders role.
