GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes has hit out at “dull Gen Z” after a new poll revealed almost half of them prefer a British staple beverage over alcohol.
According to new data accumulated by Guide Dogs as part of their Make Every Cuppa Count campaign, 42 percent of young Brits turn to tea instead of alcohol.
The survey of 2,000 UK adults born after 1997 also found that when feeling stressed, just 23 per cent reach for alcohol.
Besides feeling stressed, 81 per cent of Gen Z said that having a cuppa was a fantastic way to catch up with friends, family and colleagues.
Reacting to the study, Breakfast presenter Ellie Costello joked that the respondents of the survey are “just like Eamonn”.
Eamonn hit back, jibing: “I don’t even prefer a cup of tea, to be quite truthful.”
Noting that the amount of young Britons that prefer a cup of tea over alcohol is “quite high”, Eamonn criticised the young generation and claimed they are “so boring”.
Eamonn stated: “It’s so boring, really, when you think about it. I don’t drink, I’m not against alcohol, and I’m not against people having a drink and having booze in moderation, but this lot really do seem quite dull.”

Ellie laughed at Eamonn’s take on Gen Z, agreeing: “It is quite boring, isn’t it?”
Questioning what young Britons do with themselves if they are not drinking alcohol, Eamonn said: “What do they do if they don’t have a drink and they don’t socialise? What do they do?”
Ellie claimed: “They are online. They’re online and doing a lot of moaning, I think that’s generally the idea. They don’t do much talking either.”
Eamonn was less than amused as he concluded: “They’re all online are they?”
Calling on young GB News viewers to defend Gen Z, Eamonn urged: “Well, if you’re online and you want to do some moaning, get in touch with us today.
