Jeremy Clarkson, 65, left exasperated as fans reach out over devastating Diddly Squat update: ‘Jesus!’

Jeremy Clarkson has taken to social media to share with his followers just how detrimental the warmer temperatures can be on his farm.

Many parts of the UK have enjoyed sunnier climates of late, including the warmest start to May since records began, and Oxfordshire, where Clarkson’s farm is, has been no different.

Nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, Clarkson’s Diddly Squat farm has been subject to scorching sunlight and dry conditions for several weeks now.

Even Clarkson’s right-hand man, Kaleb Cooper, took to Instagram this week to bemoan the “mid-drought” he and his fellow farmers are currently battling against.

On Saturday afternoon, it was Clarkson’s turn as he recorded a video of himself standing in the centre of one of his vast fields near Chadlington, Chipping Norton.

As Clarkson panned his camera across the landscape, the arid surface could be seen as far as the eye could see, with no sign of growth from his crops anywhere in the field.

“I hope you’re enjoying this lovely sunny weather,” Clarkson could be heard in his narration off-camera.

He continued: “But I’ve got to be honest, this field isn’t.”

As he exhaled, Clarkson explained just how monumental the scenes in front of him were, telling viewers: “Jesus. Drier even than 1976.”

Inevitably, it didn’t take long for several of Clarkson’s 8.9 million Instagram followers to take to the comments of the post – including his farm manager Cooper.

“Going to start doing the rain dance!” a desperate Cooper joked in response, prompting many fans of the Amazon Prime series to “like” his comment.

Others, however, shared Clarkson’s dismay for the state of the fields as a result of the dry weather, including one who reached out: “Ugh I need rain too for my fields.”

“Just need some rain now, please,” a second added before a third weighed in: “Hope it rains soon… definitely need a balance of both.”

And a fellow Cotswolds farmer replied: “Some day we’ll have some rain. We’ve not had any proper rain for months.” (sic)

Cooper and Clarkson have battled dry conditions together in the past. Most notably, and hilariously, during one episode of Clarkson’s Farm, the 65-year-old suggested dousing water from his stream onto one of his fields.

However, after he and Cooper spent hours filling up a tanker attached to the back of his tractor, land agent Charlie Ireland could only watch on in bemusement as all of the water ran out after just one length of the field.

Fans will see the fresh challenges the Diddly Squat team faces when the fourth season arrives on Prime Video later this month.

And thanks to a newly-released trailer, Clarkson has revealed he had to draft in a replacement for Cooper after the young farmhand embarked on a nationwide stage tour.

In the trailer, fans are introduced to Harriet Cowan, a 24-year-old local farmhand and full-time nurse.

Cowan appears to be just the right person to fill the void left by Cooper, with Clarkson commenting she was “brilliant”‘ in the trailer.

Clarkson’s Farm fans will be able to see how Cowan adapts to the role of Clarkson’s sidekick when the first four episodes of season four arrive on May 23.

Episodes five to six will be released the following week on May 30, and the fourth run will conclude with episodes seven and eight on June 6.
