Baywatch star David Hasselhoff is reportedly “living on borrowed time” according to a source close to the 72-year-old actor.

The television icon was spotted in a wheelchair at Cancun airport in Mexico on Monday before limping through LAX in California.

These concerning images have emerged just weeks after his ex-wife Pamela Bach’s tragic suicide.

Hasselhoff was seen leaning heavily on his Welsh wife Hayley, 45, as they returned from their Mexican holiday.

Dressed in a striped shirt, black baseball cap and slacks, the actor gave a thumbs up to photographers despite his apparent mobility issues.

The couple have been married for seven years, with Hayley supporting her husband who is 27 years her senior.

A source close to the father-of-two told the Mail that whilst Hasselhoff is now sober, his health “has been declining for some time” as a result of “decades of alcoholism”.

The insider also pointed to his age and major operations, including having a defibrillator fitted to prevent a heart attack.

“He knows that every surgery could be the last,” the source added.

Bach, 61, tragically took her own life on March 5 at her Hollywood Hills home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Paramedics discovered the mother-of-two’s body after being called to the residence.

Hasselhoff, who shares two daughters with the late actress, said through a spokesperson that his family was “deeply saddened” by her sudden passing.

The source told the Mail: “David is living on borrowed time and has lived hard. He had a life that people could only dream of but he also spent decades self-medicating through alcohol and other substances, which he does regret.”

Bach had previously claimed that alcohol played a central role in their split, saying “drink was taking over his life”.

However, Hasselhoff’s representative told the Mirror: “He’s doing fine and actually they were returning from a great vacation in Cancun.

“He is scheduled to have knee surgery next week, hence the wheelchair.”

Hasselhoff has spoken publicly about his struggles with alcohol in the past, acknowledging in a 2015 interview that “alcohol can become deadly”.

The couple met on the set of Knight Rider in 1986 when Hasselhoff was still married to his first wife Catherine Hickland.

They reconnected in 1989 on the Baywatch set where Bach had secured a small role.

After dating for nine months, Bach became pregnant and they quickly married before eventually divorcing in 2006.
