Halle Berry, 58, branded ‘crass’ as she goes underwear-free in shocking Met Gala dress: ‘It’s not fashion!’

Halle Berry has been branded “crass” by the internet after she attended the Met Gala in a shocking underwear-free outfit.

The Oscar winner made a striking return to the Met Gala after an eight-year absence, wearing a custom black LaQuan Smith gown featuring sheer stripes from her chest to her ankles- leaving little to the imagination.

A satin cropped blazer complemented the look, which saw Berry ditch her underwear to avoid visible panty lines.

Critics took to the internet to share their thoughts on the fit, with one X user saying: “What in the world is this look?”

Under a photo of the star on the red carpet, another commenter stated: “Halle Berry in her ridiculous dress (if you can call it that) with strips of fabric barely covering her pubic area & rest of her below the waist. It’s not fashion.”

Two others attributed the risqué look to the actresses age, with the first writing: “Halle Berry isn’t as hot and as good as she used to be back in the day now she’s just an average h**.”

The second chimed in: “I can’t imagine why she did it other than she’s close to 60 and in Hollywood that’s a death sentence.”

However, not everyone was outraged, with one person writing: “Halle Berry showing the world she is still fine as f***.”

Berry seemed to follow in Bianca Censori’s footsteps, with the Australian architect known for frequenting public events in very little clothing.

Censori faced scrutiny earlier this year during the 2025 Grammys, where she took to the red carpet in a completely see-through stocking dress.

Fans online were quick to make the comparison between the two celebrities, with one person asking: “Are you a friend of Bianca Censori?”

Censori and her husband, Kanye West, were nowhere to be seen at this year’s Met Gala.

To avoid any party-crashers, Met Gala organiser and editor-in-chief of Vogue Anna Wintor reportedly ordered extra security

Speaking to RadarOnline, a source said: “Anna is not messing around. There’s a full protocol in place if Kanye is spotted anywhere near the carpet.”

This comes after West shared a disturbing social media post where he appeared to show a KKK-inspired outfit he claimed he would wear to the event.

The image showed a bare-chested figure wearing boots, gloves and a pointed hood, with the caption “MET BALL 2025”.
