Amanda Holden has made a rare admission about her marriage to Chris Hughes, revealing they have faced “ups and downs” whilst celebrating two decades together.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge opened up about her relationship with her husband of 17 years in a candid moment and shared insight into their enduring bond ahead of her new Netflix series.
Holden expressed that despite being together for 20 years, their relationship still feels “so fresh” and spoke of her gratitude for their “secure” union that has stood the test of time.
In comments shared with the Express, she revealed her appreciation for her husband during a recent work trip and said: “When my husband came out to visit during filming, I felt grateful to be in a lovely, secure relationship.
“We have ups and downs like everyone else. But when I was looking at the pain and suffering that some of the people we were working with were going through, I felt so grateful that I had somebody in my life with no complications.”
The Heart Radio presenter was referring to Hughes visiting her while she filmed in Mallorca, Spain, with a rare glimpse into their private life, highlighting the strength of their relationship.

Holden’s comments came ahead of the release of her new Netflix series, Cheat: Unfinished Business, where couples venture on a journey of truth and delve deeper into their relationships.
The couple have maintained a relatively private marriage despite Holden’s high-profile television career, with the couple first meeting in Los Angeles in 2003, beginning their romance the following year.
The couple tied the knot in 2008 with a lavish Christmas-themed wedding ceremony in Somerset, before going on to be married for 17 years and welcoming their two daughters, Holly and Lexi.
This isn’t the first time that she has made a confession about her marriage to Hughes on the show, as she previously gave an insight into their sex life.
Speaking to The Sun, she explained: “Yeah, I was getting tips from Paul C Brunson (during filming)… and was really nice to Chris for the week he came out to visit on set because I’d learned so much. I’d made notes.”
She went on to admit: “I’m working on my communication. Chris is very happy that I’ve done this show, and he and Paul love each other,” confessing they were “swinging from the chandeliers more than ever”.
Holden’s interest in relationships stems back to her appearance on Blind Date at 19, where her own experience with infidelity came when her first marriage to comedian Les Dennis ended following her affair with Neil Morrissey in 2000.
The new series represents another career milestone for Holden, who continues to balance her successful television career with family life.
Throughout the series, Brunson, known for co-hosting Celebs Go Dating and Married at First Sight UK, guides the couples and sets tasks to help them address their issues.
The show doesn’t vilify the cheaters but offers genuine support to help couples cope with betrayal of trust, leaving Holden to explain: “It’s a relationship show.
Speaking about what the show represents, Holden expressed: “It’s not a dating show. It’s about people who are invested in their relationships and are seeing whether they can hold on to them and make them work.
“There are two sides, and we’re very quick to judge. I think it’s very important to listen and to see why people have done what they’ve done.
“She firmly believes in second chances for those who have been unfaithful and affirmed: “Everybody was a child once, and everybody’s had aspirations and dreams, and so, the people in this villa are good people who made bad decisions.
“Everybody should have a second chance. I think it’s a worldwide thing, and I think everybody’s going to understand it.”
