BBC EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy makes feelings clear on Meghan Markle

The BBC EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has made her feelings clear on Meghan Markle.

Cassidy was keen to emphasise that she harbours no ill will towards the Duchess of Sussex or Prince Harry.

“Do you know what, I like Meghan, I mean it, they get a lot of bad press, all of that rubbish, I’m not here to have a go at Meghan, or at Harry,” she clarified.

The soap star distanced herself from those who routinely criticise the couple, adding: “That’s really boring and people do it all the time.”

She maintained her critique of the Netflix series “With Love, Meghan” was specifically about the show’s content rather than a personal attack, stating: “They’re living their life, good luck to them. But as a lifestyle show, I am sorry…”

Cassidy delivered a scathing critique of Meghan’s Netflix lifestyle show, describing the Duchess’s cooking skills as “beginner-ish”.

The 41-year-old actress expressed her bewilderment at Meghan’s culinary choices whilst appearing on her Off the Telly podcast with Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page.

Cassidy was particularly perplexed by Meghan’s attire whilst cooking, stating: “You don’t cook pasta with a cream linen suit on, number one.”

Her co-host Joanna Page agreed, adding: “Tomatoes as well,” highlighting the impracticality of wearing light-coloured clothing whilst preparing potentially messy dishes.

Cassidy further criticised Meghan’s vegetable preparation skills whilst watching her make a crudité plate with her friend and make-up artist Daniel Martin.

“She was chopping up some vegetables, her crudité plate, and I thought, you don’t chop a lot, don’t pretend. Her chopping was quite beginner-ish,” Cassidy remarked.

The EastEnders icon was equally unimpressed with Meghan’s pasta dish, saying: “The pasta she made was very healthy and I genuinely was bamboozled.”

She added: “She was showing us how to put some vegetables on a plate and added a few flowers to it, who can’t do that?”

Cassidy concluded that the show was “really glossy” but ultimately “just easy”.

“With Love, Meghan” is the latest Netflix project involving Prince Harry and Meghan, who signed a reported £80million deal with the streaming giant in 2020.

The eight-part lifestyle series featured appearances from celebrities including Mindy Kaling and Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
